The Robert Harris Group returns to Uptown Altamonte for the Friday Night Live series on March 27 at 7pm. Harris also announced that he has teamed up with National Producer/Songwriter Funkeeboy (Bobbi Tammaro) on some future projects and that Funkeeboy will be joining him at this special Altamonte concert."Because Funkeeboy is going to be in town that weekend, he has also agreed to make a special appearance at the Friday Night Live gig on the 27th," Harris said. "We will feature Bobbi on his new hit song 'Body Music' half way through the second set and have him finish out the second set with us."
The Robert Harris Group has toured extensively throughout Florida and recently returned from the Florida Smooth Jazz Valentine's Cruise aboard Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas where Harris joined The Rippingtons, Jeff Kashiwa and Paul Taylor. He has also opened for Walter Beasley, Spyro Gyra, and Jean-Luc Ponty. Last year, Harris opened for Mindi Abair at the Downtown Art and Music Festival at Lake Eola in Orlando, Richard Elliot at the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival and will open and share the stage with Kenny G, Johnathan Butler, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Roy Ayers and more at the Miami Jazz Festival (Jazz in the Gardens) on March 28.
Sandy Shore, of SmoothJazz.com, described Harris as "one of Central Florida's premiere guitarists that captures the very essence of Smooth Jazz with feel good melodies and articulate playing."
Detroit native, Robert Harris grew up listening to the music of George Benson, Stevie Wonder, Hall & Oats and the song writers of the seventies. It was there that his musical aspirations began at the early age of 12. At 16, he began playing guitar, and within a year was playing throughout the Detroit area. Harris made his way to the Seattle area. He spent several years touring the West Coast before heading south to Los Angeles. Within a year of being in L.A., Harris was signed with West Management & Record Company, where they produced Harris’ first CD project, "Don’t Wait."
The group currently includes:
Robert Harris - Guitar and Vocals
Steve Takahashi - Drums
Jimmy Seay - Bass
Daryl Eason - Sax
Funkeeboy- Keyboards
"City Lights," Harris' most recent album, has earned national acclaim and continues to rise on the Smooth Jazz Charts. His second release, “Steppin Out,” immediately soared to new heights. "Steppin Out" is currently still climbing and recently charted at #14 nationally where it has been on the Smoothjazz.com charts for over 25 weeks.
Robert Harris and Funkeeboy will have CD's available for sale at the concert.
"Altamonte has become one of our favorite venues," Harris said. "The audience stays involved and brings out the best in us."
