Diamond Tears

"Some of the greatest pop stars got their start in Central Florida and I look forward to kicking off my career here too," Fatimah Verrell, who goes by the name of "Eye'z" said.

While she does not have any specific venues lined up yet, Eye'z is planning on moving to Orlando in March, 2009 from California. Somewhat elusive to some of my questions, she explained her background as being "from the castle, the one everyone sees but has never been to."

Her website, however, revealed some strong emotional insights:

"Once upon a time a baby girl was born. No one loved her nor even bothered to hug her. They never checked on her to see what she was doing or who she was with everyday and every night she cried and cried and cried. No one listened, heard or opened the door and when she grew just a little bit older, they beat her to the floor. Every day and every night she cried and cried and cried. But had they listed they would have known that all those years, the sobbing was music and she cried diamond tears."

Eye'z grew up "listening to classical Hawaiian music, negro spirituals, and church music, but not gospel. My mom and her sisters are music majors and my aunt is an opera singer and music teacher."

Carrying the family history, Eye'z sings and plays piano. She enjoys Disney music and cites Aaliyah as her greatest musical influence while her favorite song is "Like a Star" by Taoi Cruz. She describes her current style of music as pop. Two of her current songs, "Lovely" and "Levitating" may be heard on the Eye'z myspace page.

She will be in Florida in March and said "if there are any venues that are interested in me playing, please let me know! I will be more than happy to play. I put my heart and soul into everything I do."
